New Website, What Else Is New?

For the last few weeks, I've been working on creating this new website. Spending hours going through themes, trying to figure out which one can do what I want....then realizing that none of them do what I want and having to edit the code a bit (yeah, I'm cool like that). Lots of late nights getting hundreds of products synced, pictures edited and added to each product, and making sure everything is in place. I've let go of the idea that anything will be perfect, but I'll be damned if I don't try to get it as close as possible without losing my mind. 

I'm excited to finally have my own custom domain, and to be using Shopify instead of Square. Square was a great starter website, and was good enough for being free. Since my online presence began a few years ago, the goal was always to have my own domain name hosted on Shopify. There are so many more features with Shopify that I'm delighted to integrate into my site, but I won't get into the nerdy side of all that...ok, maybe just a few things. 

• First and foremost, weirdlizardart.com is alllll mine!
• Automated categories- so I just set a few parameters and voila! Way less time spent making sure I didn't miss anything in the Tops section. 
• Discounts- not only can I create discount codes, I can set automated discounts...like my 2 for $30 necklace deals.
• Reviews are now available! Hopefully some of my wonderful customers will leave reviews and add some credibility to potential new customers :)
• Size Charts- I was able to create a new page template to add a linked size chart to my print on demand items. It's small, but it made me happy. 
• Blogs- people can comment on my blogs now!

Outside of the website, not much is new. I know, just another misleading, clickbait title. Darn millennials and our internet shenanigans.  

I've been taking a break from vending shows again, and not reaching out to stores or art galleries as I planned to. Probably because of some combination of burnout and ADHD. Plus, ya know, new website things. I'll get back into it in the next month or two. I'm constantly working on finding the balance between accomplishing my goals and making sure I give myself enough time to rest...and enough grace to not feel guilty about not doing everything I want within the time period I want to do it in. 

It's just past midnight, and I wanted to jot down a quick blog to announce the new website because putting all of this in a social media post seemed excessive. So there ya go, another update from that weird girl who paints.
